About Attleborough

Attleborough Church

Attleborough’s town sign reflects its past glories when the area was famous for its turkeys and cider. The town was host to largest turkey fair in the country.

Attleborough is a bustling market town that looks Victorian but can actually be trace back to Saxon times. Placed as it is on the main London to Norwich road Attleborough was a great staging post for Stagecoaches and The Royal Mail, and with the coming of the railway in 1845 Attleborough’s time for expansion had arrived. The Griffin Hotel near the old market place is a charming reminder of the stagecoach days.
